Senior Network and Systems Support Engineer

Fulltime & Remote for a Dutch Company living in Bulgaria

For an established Dutch client of sapnomads we are recruiting a remote working Senior Network & Systems Support Engineer to support their clients in the Netherlands. Are you a Senior IT Specialist who seamlessly combines Microsoft Cloud/M365 administration with deep hands-on expertise in Cisco routing, FortiGate firewalls, and enterprise switching (HP/Ruckus)? Join a dynamic Dutch Managed Service Provider as a core technical specialist. 

Note: Due to compliance and legal requirements, this role is strictly available as a local Bulgarian employment contract via Opensapiens Europe EOOD (sapnomads), B2B/freelance arrangements are not possible for this role.

About the role

A Wi-Fi outage, a failing firewall rule, or a complex routing issue; as a Senior Network & Systems Engineer, you diagnose and resolve critical ICT infrastructure incidents in no time.
You will join a high-caliber team of technical specialists providing 2nd and 3rd-tier engineering support to business clients across the Netherlands. While you support core Microsoft environments, your true added value lies in your ability to independently troubleshoot complex network topologies, switches, firewalls, and routing issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Resolve complex 2nd/3rd-line network, firewall, Wi-Fi, and Microsoft infrastructure incidents.

• Perform root cause analysis on network outages, routing conflicts, and firewall configurations.

• Manage, configure, and maintain Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Hyper-V, and Cloud environments.

• Support and mentor 1st-line service desk colleagues on complex technical escalations.

• Participate in specialized infrastructure and network implementation projects under project managers.

Requirements (The Hard Match):

• Hands-on experience with Cisco routing, FortiGate / pfSense firewalls, and HP / Ruckus enterprise switching & Wi-Fi solutions.

• Solid background in Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Intune), and Hyper-V virtualization.

• Minimum of 3–5 years in a Senior Support, Systems, or Network Engineering role (preferably at an MSP or IT integrator).

• Full professional fluency in English (verbal and written).

• Analytical problem-solver, clear communicator, and proactive team player.
